"The Gates of Paradise"

The symbolism of this card whispers of pelicans and Mennonite maids, whose forms stand next to the pillars that the birds arch over. In ancient Christian art, the pelican, in her piety, is one of the most widely used and striking symbols of the atonement. Allegorically Christ is represented as a "pelican of the wilderness". What we have here is possibly a reference to the gates of paradise. Man, or woman, stands beneath the arch of these glorious gates.

Single card with envelope: $3.00; assortment of 8,or all 1 design: $15.00. All cards are blank inside.
