 E5671 This painting,offered in its original antique frame,is attributed to Frederick Ferdinand Schafer. Schafer was well known for his landscapes of the Northwest and Yosemite Valley, as well as his portraits of American Indians.Born on August 16, 1839 in Braunschweig, Germany, Schafer died on July 18,1927 in Oakland, California. He emigrated to the United States in 1876,living in San Francisco from 1880 through 1886. He resided in Alameda and Oakland from 1887 to 1927. He was a member of the San Francisco Art Association and exhibited his work at the Alameda Free Library in San Francisco, California. His work is on permanent display at the California Historical Society,the Alameda,CA Free Library, the Art Museum of Greater Victoria, British Columbia, and the Honeyman Collection to name a few.This canvas is approximately 21x29 overall. This oil on canvas has been professionally cleaned and re-varnished.
